Aduana Stars FC head coach Nurudeen Ahmed insists individual blunders cost the team in the 2-0 defeat at Inter Allies.

The Dormaa-based side lost 2-0 to Inter Allies on the opening day of the 2016 season at the Tema Sports Stadium.

Aduana fell down to two goals in the first half, and although they reacted quite positively in the second, they could not get a share of the points.

However, coach Nurudeen says the team must work assiduously to make amends in the next match.

“I think that first half was a poor performance but we did well in the second half. But unfortunately, that was too little too late,” the head coach told aduanafc.com

“We were able to put pressure on them but we couldn’t score. In the second half it was hard luck because we dominated.

“But individual blunders cost us and we have to work on our defensive side and see the ways we can [rectify that]. In midfield, we had problems so we need to see how we can work on that area as fast as possible so that we can be in good shape to win on Sunday.

“We were just unlucky that they utilized their chances because the chances we had, if we had utilized them, we would have had four or more. But that is football: anybody who utilizes their chances wins the game.”

He added: “The way forward is that it is the first match and so we will try to put it behind us and work assiduously so that the team will start winning.”
